A Basic Truth

August 8, 2009

Political tags–such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and. so forth–are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.

  1. I am definitely one that believes in principles, policies and truths; I am not concerned with being labeled as anything.

From my point of view, there are basic truths to fundamentally being American; and they are a belief in the principles of our founding fathers, and the founding documents. As well as the free market/entrepreneurial system that they set forth for this nation.

To dissent and take issue with some of our founding beliefs is perfectly find, even welcome in a free society, but to try to usher in policies and political systems that are so fundamentally different then the visions of our founders; to me, is essentially one step above denouncing your citizenship as an American.

How is that for a few basic truths? : )
